How to use your browser to improve accessibility

Making the pages easier to read

If you wish to increase the size of fonts on this and other sites, use the following instructions for popular web browsers.

I nstructions for increasing size of fonts
Internet Explorer 5.x and above Open the View menu, select the Text size option, and select the font size you wish to use.
You can also standardise the use of fonts by opening the Tools menu, selecting the Internet Options option. Make sure you are in the General Tab of the Internet Options dialog box. Click the button titled Accessibility. Select the options titled Ignore font styles on Web pages and Ignore font sizes on Web pages
Netscape 4.x Open the View menu and select Increase Font
Netscape 6.x Open the View menu, select the Text size option, and select the font size you wish to use.

If you wish to simplify the use of colour on this and other sites, use the following instructions for popular web browsers. (Best used with Accessibility Features enabled).

Instructions for simplifying use of colour
Internet Explorer 5.x and above Open the Tools menu, selecting the Internet Options option. Make sure you are in the General Tab of the Internet Options dialog box. Click the button titled Accessibility. Select the option titled Ignore colour on Web pages
Netscape 4.x Open the Edit menu, select the Preferences option. Under the Appearance category, click Color. (If no subcategories are visible, double-click the category to expand the list.) In the area titled Sometimes a document will provide its own colors and background, select Always use mycolors, overriding document. You can alter the default colours in the area titled Colors and Links.
Netscape 6.x Open the Edit menu, select the Preferences option. Under the Appearance category, click Color. (If no subcategories are visible, double-click the category to expand the list.) In the area titled When a webpage provides its own colors and background, select Use my chosen colors, ignoring the colors specified. You can alter the default colours in the area titled Text and Background and Link Colors.

Making the pages faster to download

If you wish to remove images from this and other sites, use the following instructions for popular web browsers. (Best used with Accessibility Features enabled).

Internet Explorer 5.x and above Open the Tools menu, select the Internet Options option, and select the Advanced tab. In the Accessibility section, make sure Always expand ALT text for images is selected. Scroll down to the Multimedia section, and deselect Show pictures.
Netscape 4.x Click on the View menu and select Increase Font
Netscape 6.x Open the Edit menu and select Preferences. Under the Privacy & Security category, click Images. (If no subcategories are visible, double-click the category to expand the list.) Select do not accept any images.
